Privacy policy

ULS Lookup is an unofficial, read-only search for public FCC Amateur and GMRS license records. This policy covers the ULS Lookup website, Android app, and desktop app operated by Crash United, LLC.

What the lookup sends

When you search, the app sends the callsign, FCC Registration Number (FRN), name, or location filters you entered to api.ulsf.cc over HTTPS. The service uses those values in memory to answer that request. It does not place lookup values or returned license records in application logs.

Search state may appear in the page URL so that you can reload, bookmark, or share a result. Your browser or operating system may retain that URL in local history, and anyone you share it with can read its search fields.

Operational and security data

The service records a request ID, normalized route, response status, latency, and FCC dataset version for reliability and abuse prevention. These logs do not include the query string or response body and are normally retained for no more than 30 days.

Cloudflare and Google Cloud process network information, including IP addresses, as service providers for encrypted delivery, rate limiting, security, hosting, and operational monitoring. Their infrastructure may retain security and access information under their respective policies.

Website analytics

The website can use Google Analytics 4 to measure coarse events such as which search mode was used, whether a lookup returned results, and whether a resource link was opened. It never sends callsigns, FRNs, names, addresses, returned license details, or URL query parameters to Analytics.

Analytics storage is denied by default. The website loads Google Analytics in consent mode, which may send limited cookieless measurements to Google; Analytics cookies and identifiers are enabled only if you choose “Accept analytics.” Your choice is saved in your browser as ulsf.analytics-consent and can be changed using “Analytics settings” in the website footer.

Google Analytics is excluded from Android and desktop builds.

Public FCC records and external sites

Search results are drawn from public FCC Universal Licensing System files and may include a license holder’s name, address, FRN, license dates, and status. ULS Lookup does not create or control those FCC records. Links to the FCC and WRCK692 open external sites governed by their own privacy policies.

Accounts, Google Play purchases, and advertising

ULS Lookup does not create app accounts and does not require a Crash United login. Free lookup does not require payment. The Google Play build may offer optional paid offline features. ULS Lookup has no advertising and does not sell personal data.

When you purchase or restore an optional Play feature, the Android billing integration sends the product, product type, Play transaction and purchase token, integration version, and simulator status to the ULS Lookup validator for purchase processing, fraud prevention, and support. Google Play processes the purchase. Billing SDK analytics, tracking, fraud-fingerprint, and support metadata are disabled: the integration does not send a device UUID, hashed device fingerprint, model, manufacturer, or Android version. The validator reads only the product, product type, platform, and purchase token and does not log request bodies. The raw token is sent to Google Play for verification and is never stored or logged by ULS Lookup.

The service stores only the purchase token’s SHA-256 digest; package, product, and product-kind identifiers; purchase and entitlement state; acknowledgement status; purchase and expiration times; verification timestamps; and related Real-time Developer Notification message IDs, token digests, outcomes, and processing times. The current accountless design leaves its optional customer reference empty. Crash United does not receive or store payment-card numbers, bank details, security codes, or Google account passwords.

Retention

Lookup values are not retained by the application service after the request completes. Operational logs expire on the schedule described above. Because ULS Lookup has no accounts, it does not maintain a user profile to delete. You may clear search URLs and the analytics preference through your browser or app data controls.

Data deletion requests

ULS Lookup has no app account to delete. You can still ask us to delete service-side information that can reasonably be linked to you by emailing [email protected] with the subject “ULS Lookup data deletion request.”

For a Google Play purchase, include the Google Play order ID shown on your receipt, normally beginning with GPA.. This is the preferred identifier because support can verify it with Google Play and map it to the hashed entitlement record without asking you for the purchase token. We may also ask you to confirm the product and approximate purchase date. Never email us a purchase token, payment-card number, bank-account detail, security code, Google password, or a full unredacted payment statement.

For operational information unrelated to a purchase, include the approximate date, time and time zone, the action you took, and a request ID if one was displayed. Do not send the callsign, FRN, name, address, or other lookup text unless support specifically explains why it is necessary; normal service logs do not contain lookup values.

After reasonable verification, we can delete identifiable ULS Lookup entitlement-ledger rows, related notification-processing rows, and service-owned operational records that can be located from the information you provide. Deletion does not permanently suppress a Play purchase: later restoring or using a paid entitlement, or a subsequent Google Play lifecycle notification, can create a new minimal ledger record. Cancel the subscription separately in Google Play if you want renewals and related future processing to stop. A deletion request does not cancel a subscription, issue a refund, or erase Google’s order records. We also cannot change or delete public FCC license records.

We may retain only the information reasonably necessary to comply with law, taxes and accounting duties, resolve refunds or chargebacks, prevent fraud or abuse, secure the service, or establish or defend legal claims. Any retained exception is limited to that purpose and kept only as long as the applicable obligation or risk requires. We will explain the outcome of your request and any applicable retention exception.
